BTCCSquare news:

Apple has raised significant concerns about the UK Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) proposal to enhance competition in the mobile operating system sector. The tech giant argues that forcing it to share proprietary technology with competitors could compromise user privacy, stifle innovation, and unfairly benefit foreign rivals.

The CMA's initiative targets Apple and Google's near-total market dominance, where they control 90-100% of UK mobile devices. Last month, regulators warned both companies about unfair app distribution practices and plan to designate them with strategic market status—a move that would allow imposition of behavioral rules to level the playing field.

"This approach undermines the privacy and security protections our users have come to expect," an Apple spokesperson stated, comparing the proposed regulations to controversial EU-style rules. The company maintains that such measures WOULD force it to surrender valuable intellectual property without compensation while potentially degrading product quality.
